Megan,

I am glad that you were able to assemble such a complicated lantern and then get such beautiful photos of it. In your photos, the cast light really looks lke candlelight. Your choice of material was interesting.

Good to see that you were able to model it in FormZ as well as it shows the geometry clearly and suggests how it could look in a thin metal.

When I saw how difficult it was to keep the pieces together, it made me wonder whether you could make it out of a continuous pleated cylinder: use glued z - folds at the top and bottom, then cut and bend the folds out of the way: like a pleated skirt with slits. Perhaps the top (and/or bottom) could work like a candy wrapper: long tabs coming out of the pleats could meet at a center hub.

You could also play with how patterns on the top and bottom surface could complement the sides. I could imagine that like Kelly's soccer ball, you could puncture the top with beautiful patterns that work with the sides.
It would be pretty simple in FormZ to try different numbers of mini-slits and facets of the cylinder. The mini-slits could be make a pattern (i.e. a checkerboard) if you wanted it more decorative.

For the layout, it's great to see you integrating the formZ lines with the photos. Be careful about having photos that are sort of the same size - you could crop the photo so it was the same width as the rendering OR make it super big as a black backdrop.

I see a lot of potential in your design. It comes from a nice observation about how reflected light creates a pleasant glow.
